Notarial & Commissioning Services

In accordance with provincial law, The Law Office of Sean Langan is authorized to provide notarial and commissioning services in connection with all legal and personal matters, including affidavits, statutory declarations, passport applications, permanent resident card applications, marriage contracts, and business contracts.

SERVICES
We provide a wide array of notarial & commissioning services, including:

Making a Certified Copy (True Copy) - A copy of the original document is certified by the Notary Public to be a true and accurate copy of the original document. Please bring the original document to your appointment. A photocopy of the original will be made by the Notary Public.

Fees:    Single Document - $40.00 (includes G.S.T.)
    Each subsequent document - $20.00 (includes G.S.T.)

Authentication of Certified Copy - Many foreign jurisdictions require that the appointment of the Notary or Commissioner be "authenticated" by the Government of Ontario. The Government will review its records and confirm the appointment of the Notary or Commissioner by attaching a stamped cover letter to the certified copy.

Fees:
$50.00 (includes G.S.T.). This fee includes notarizing the true copy of the original document and obtaining the authentication from the Government of Ontario. Please note that the Government of Ontario may require two to three days to authenticate the appointment of the Notary or Commissioner.

Administering an Oath or Solemn Affirmation - The person(s) swearing the affidavit or statutory declaration must appear before the Commissioner. The document being commissioned should be completed, but not signed, before your appointment. We will verify the identity of the person, the genuineness of the signature, and administer an oath or solemn affirmation.

Fees:    Single document - $40.00 (includes G.S.T.)
      Each subsequent document - $20.00 (includes G.S.T.)

If necessary, we can also prepare an affidavit or statutory declaration. The fee for preparing an affidavit or statutory declaration will range between $50.00 and $150.00 (includes G.S.T.) depending on the complexity of the subject matter.
Passport Application - If you are unable to provide a guarantor for your passport application, you can make a Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor, which the Commissioner will then administer. Occasionally, we will have blank passport applications and Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor forms for use by our clients. However, it is recommended that you obtain a copy of the passport application and Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor form from the passport office before your appointment. The passport application and Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor form should be completed, but not signed and dated before you visit our office.

Fees:
$50.00 (includes G.S.T.). The fee for commissioning a passport application includes the certification of photographs and certification of documents that support identity.

Permanent Resident Card Application - Applying to become a permanent resident of Canada is an important and exciting occasion in a person's life. If you are unable to provide a guarantor for your permanent resident card application, you can make a Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor, which the Commissioner may administer. The fee for commissioning a permanent resident card application includes the certification of photographs and documents that support identity.

Fees:
In recognition of this important occasion in your life, we have reduced our commissioning fees to $35.00 per person, or $80.00 per family (three to six persons). G.S.T. included.

Consent to Travel Document / Parent Consent Letter - A Consent to Travel Document or Parent Consent Letter is often required by foreign authorities when a child is traveling alone or with a parent. If the child is travelling without either parent, the Consent to Travel Document authorizing travel must be signed and dated by both parents in the presence of the Notary Public. If the child is travelling with one parent, the Consent to Travel Document authorizing the travel must be signed and dated by the other parent in the presence of the Notary Public.

Fees:    $60.00 for drafting and notarizing the Consent to Travel Document. G.S.T. included.

Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union for O.S.A.P. Applications - This statutory declaration is signed by you and your partner confirming that you have been living together in a conjugal relationship for at least three (3) years or are living together in a conjugal relationship, and are raising any children of whom you both are the natural or adoptive parents.

Fees:    $40.00 (includes G.S.T.)

Power of Attorney - Drafting a simple power of attorney authorizing another to act as your agent in dealings with third parties.

Fees:    $90.00 or more (includes G.S.T.)
