Sean Langan is the principal of the Law Office and has been practising intellectual property law and litigation since his call to the Ontario Bar. Prior to establishing his own firm in 2004, Sean worked for a leading intellectual property law firm in Toronto. Sean has also worked for a full-service national law firm in the fields of corporate and commercial law, and an international insurance company as a real estate investment analyst.
His practice includes high technology and intellectual property law, namely patents, trademarks, copyright and industrial designs, corporate and commercial law, entertainment law, advertising and marketing law and privacy law. Sean is a registered trade-mark agent practising before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. He is also a qualified Notary Public and Commissioner for Taking Oaths in the Province of Ontario.
The Law Office's wide range of legal services is a product of Mr. Langan's diverse education. Sean earned his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, where he also concurrently obtained an MBA from the globally top-ranked Schulich School of Business. Sean also earned an Honours Bachelor of Engineeing (Civil) degree from Ryerson Polytechnic University, where he developed a complex software program for designing retaining wall structures for construction projects.
Mr. Langan is currently pursuing language certificates in Cantonese and Spanish through the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Education.
Sean is also actively involved in charitable and professional organizations to better the communities in which we live and work. He is member of the Board of Directors of the Fort York Food Bank, and an advocate for the Child Advocacy Project. He is also a mentor to current law students through Osgoode Hall Law School's Mentorship Program.
Mr. Langan is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member of the licensing, industrial design and intellectual property literature index committees of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), and is a planning committee member for the Toronto Computer Lawyers Group. Sean is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE).
